Lacquered Finishes
Lacquered pieces have been polished to bring depth and beauty. Although they are typically protected with a clear coat, they remain susceptible to wear.

Precautions:
* Use placemats or felt pads under objects that may scratch the surface, and coasters under any liquid containers.
* Do not allow liquids to remain in contact with lacquered surfaces.
* Avoid leaving rubber or plastic items on lacquer finishes, as they may cause damage.

Important Environmental Information:
* Do not place hot or moist objects directly on lacquer surfaces.
* Keep lacquered items away from heaters, air conditioning units, and direct sunlight.
* Avoid extreme humidity fluctuations; maintain levels between 35–45%.
* Excess moisture may cause swelling or warping, while overly dry conditions may lead to cracking.

Maintenance:
* Clean with a dry or slightly damp soft cloth, followed by a dry polish with a soft cloth.
* Avoid heavy-duty polishes or waxes, which may discolor finishes.

Restoration:
* For stains or surface damage, professional refinishing is recommended.

Leather
Each leather piece carries its own natural story, with variations in tone and texture that make it unique.

Maintenance:
* Clean everyday stains with a soft, damp cloth.
* Wipe gently and avoid excessive moisture.

Precautions:
* Avoid direct sunlight and heat sources, which may dry or fade the leather.
* Do not use harsh cleaners, solvents, or excessive water.
* Natural variations in color and grain are inherent and not defects.

Restoration:
* For conditioning or deeper cleaning, consult a professional leather care specialist.

Glass and Crystal

Maintenance:
* Glass and crystal can be cleaned by wiping with a soft, damp cloth or glass cleaner with no additives.
* Apply the glass cleaner to a soft cloth rather than directly onto the fixture to avoid overspray that may damage other finishes.

Restoration:
* Light scratches and nicks can often be addressed by a professional glass service.

Carefully remove all packaging materials and inspect the item for any damage that may have occurred during transit. If any damage is identified, please contact Studio Van den Akker immediately and retain all packaging materials until the claim is resolved or until your SVDA representative indicates it is okay to discard the packaging.

Once unpacked, place the item on a level surface to ensure proper stability. When positioning the piece on delicate surfaces such as glass, lacquer, wood, or highly polished stone or other delicate surfaces, use appropriate protective materials to prevent damage.
