Studio Van den Akker (SVDA) products are meticulously handcrafted from the finest materials that evolve and gain distinctive character over time, underscoring their enduring quality. To preserve the beauty and longevity of your SVDA pieces, we recommend handling them with care using the following directions, ensuring they remain a cherished part of your collection for years to come.

Metals:
Most metals on SVDA pieces are delivered with a live finish unless specified differently. The live finishes are designed to naturally patina over time.

• Maintenance (live and lacquered finishes):
-Clean with a soft, slightly damp cloth.
-Do not use commercial or heavy-duty polishes or waxes as they may scratch or damage the finish.

• Restoration:
-To restore a polished finish on an item with a live or non-live finish, we recommend that they be professionally cleaned and polished.

Glass and Crystal:

Maintenance:
-Apply the glass cleaner with no ato a soft cloth rather than directly onto the fixture to avoid overspray that may damage other finishes.
-Glass and crystal can be cleaned by wiping with a soft, damp cloth or glass cleaner

Restoration:
-Light scratches and nicks can often be addressed by a professional glass service.

Alabaster:
a soft, porous stone, requires gentle care to maintain its beauty. Avoid direct sunlight and heat sources, as they can cause discoloration. Never use water or water-based solutions to clean it, as alabaster is water-soluble and can be damaged. Instead, gently dust with a soft brush or cloth, and spot clean with white or mineral spirits.

-Dust regularly Use a soft brush or cloth to regularly remove dust, preventing it from becoming ingrained.
-Avoid Direct Sunlight and Heat: Protect alabaster from prolonged exposure to direct sunlight or heat sources, as this can lead to discoloration.
-Clean with White or Mineral Spirits: Use white or mineral spirits to spot clean larger
areas, following the stone's natural grain with a soft cloth.
-Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners, as they can damage the surface
-Clean Spills Immediately: If you spill any liquids on alabaster, clean them up immediately to prevent stains.
-Reseal Periodically: Consider periodically resealing alabaster surfaces to protect them
from stains and moisture.

•Important Environmental Information:
-Avoid Direct Sunlight and Heat: Protect alabaster from prolonged exposure to direct sunlight or heat sources, as this can lead to discoloration.
-Handle with Care: Alabaster is soft and can be scratched, so handle it gently and avoid bumping or scratching it.
-Avoid Water and Water-Based Solutions: Do not use water or water-based solutions to clean alabaster, as it is water-soluble and can be damaged.
-Wear Gloves: Wear gloves when handling alabaster to prevent moisture or oils from your hands from transferring to the stone and potentially staining it.
