Use and Care Guide
Metals:
Most metals on Konekt pieces are delivered with a live finish unless specified differently. The live finishes are designed to naturally patina over time.
Maintenance:
-To clean, dust gently with a soft, non-abrasive cloth.
-Un-lacquered polished brass/bronze surfaces can be re-polished using a polishing cream with a soft, non-abrasive cloth.
-Do not use polisher or cleaning chemicals on any satin brass/bronze, blackened brass/bronze or patinated brass/bronze finishes.
Restoration:
-To restore a polished finish on an item with a live or non-live finish, we recommend that they be professionally cleaned and polished.
Blackened Steel and Plated Steel
-Our blackened steel and plated steel products are lacquered to prevent rust. Lacquered surfaces are durable but should be treated with care as it is possible to chip, crack, or scratch the protective
coating.
Maintenance:
-To clean, dust gently with a soft, non-abrasive cloth.
-Do not use any chemical cleaners, abrasives, or polishing compounds as this could affect the appearance of the finish.
Stainless Steel
Stainless steel will not patina or rust.
Maintenance:
-To clean, gently dust with a soft, non-abrasive cloth.
-Refrain from using abrasive liquids, cleaners or polishers as they may alter the appearance.
Horsehair
Maintenance:
-For everyday cleaning, gently wipe the fringe from top to bottom with a clean cloth or duster to remove dust and dirt.
-Do not use a vacuum cleaner.
-Individual hairs that come loose and cannot be placed back in, but can be easily removed by carefully snipping them with scissors from the top.
Environmental:
-Be careful not to snag the fringe with a sharp object. This can break the fringe or pull them out of place
-Keep the fringe away from heat.
-Prolonged exposure can fade the horsehair
Restoration:
-Please consult a professional restoration specialist or contact your SVDA representative for possible options.
COM/COL/COT (Customer’s own Fabric, Trim, and Leather):
-Use & Care Notice: When specifying fabrics, trims, or leather upholstery from an outside source, please refer directly to that supplier for all care, cleaning, and maintenance instructions.
SVDA is not responsible for the performance, wear, or upkeep of materials not provided through our showroom or vendors.
Leathers:
Precautions:
-Leather is a soft, porous material that is often uncoated and can easily absorb liquids and oily substances.
-Avoid contact with lotion or water, or other liquids.
-Avoid contact with raw denim and other materials that can transfer their finish to the leather.
-Maintain leather by keeping it away from direct sunlight and heating vents to prevent fading and cracking.
Maintenance:
-Care for leather by dusting with a soft cloth and lightly vacuuming. Avoid abrasive cloths or cleaning products.
-Restoration: We recommend that stained or soiled leathers be professionally cleaned.
